Your First Appointment
When you come to the clinic for your initial consultation, I will conduct a thorough assessment, starting with a detailed medical history. This will include a comprehensive questionnaire covering not only your current health concerns but also any significant past issues that may be relevant.
In line with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles, diagnostic techniques such as pulse assessment, tongue observation, and palpation of areas like your abdomen, calves, and forearms will also be performed.
This detailed consultation serves as the foundation for understanding your overall state of health according to TCM, enabling me to tailor an individualised treatment plan specific to your needs, that addresses both the root causes and the symptoms of your condition.
Your Treatment
Following your assessment, the acupuncture treatment will begin. This involves inserting extremely fine, hair-thin needles into specific points on the body. You may feel sensations like a dull ache, gentle gripping, or radiating energy, but any discomfort is brief and minor. Most people feel deeply relaxed during and after treatment.

All needles are pre-sterilized, single-use, and disposed of immediately. I adhere to strict cleanliness and hygiene standards.
Additional techniques like guasha, moxibustion, ear seeds, cupping, or acupressure may be included at no extra cost if they support your recovery. You can read more about these treatments here.

Dietary and lifestyle advice may be provided if needed and will be introduced gradually at a comfortable pace suitable to the individual.
Healing is a collaborative process, so feel free to ask questions and share any concerns during your consultation. Building a trusting, respectful partnership is essential to working together toward your optimal health and wellbeing.

Your Treatment Plan
Consistency in acupuncture treatments is key to achieving lasting results. Acupuncture works cumulatively, with each session building on the previous treatment. To avoid a "see-saw" effect—where symptoms improve and then worsen—it's important to follow a regular treatment schedule until symptoms stabilize or completely resolve.
For best results, initial treatments should be more frequent—typically twice a week for 1-2 weeks. As symptoms improve, we’ll reduce the frequency to weekly, then fortnightly, to every three weeks, and eventually to monthly sessions. This ensures steady progress and helps prevent regression of symptoms.
Acute conditions often see improvement after around 4-6 treatments, though some individuals may respond even quicker. Chronic conditions may require a longer treatment plan, with noticeable improvements typically observed after 6-10 sessions.
Acupuncture serves as preventative medicine that supports overall health and well-being. Once symptoms are resolved, a monthly "tune-up" is recommended to maintain progress and optimal health.
